The Paragon

The perfect original.  If you've ever heard someone gush about their Brooks (...and everyone that has one does), it was probably a B-17.  The deck -- the wider area at the back of the saddle where you should be sitting if your bike is set up properly -- is just wide enough, just flat enough, and just soft enough.  The nose is just long enough.  The taper from the rear to the front is just quick enough to stay out of the way of your legs, even under heavy pedaling in an aggressive position (like a road race bike).  With a little love and a little Proofide this will very likely be the most comfortable saddle you've ever had.  That said, everyone has a different topography down in the "saddle zone," and different riding styles and bicycle geometries favor different saddle shapes.  The 175mm wide deck on the Brooks Model B-17 will fit medium-large all the way down to narrow riders, and works best for riding styles of the slightly speedier variety.
